Very good food and great service, the prices are fair, we will definitely come back and suggest you try it !

Update Captain Jacks again. There are not too many changes since my last update, but food quality seems improved a lot! Therefore, it gets back to 4 star in my review. It is still the coolest Tiki bar and restaurant at Tarpon Spring. Snow birds are gone and I gonna 'nest' there for the summer.

Terrible experience once again! We have given it a couple tries now...mostly because Rusty Bellies is too busy...and Capt Jacks never fails to disappoint. We can't even make it half way through our app, which arrives with our salads, before our entrees are delivered...and they are delivered cold at that! We visit expecting to be able to relax and have a few drinks...always leave feeling dissastisfied and rushed out (not even 40 minutes in and out). They could really use some work on their food prep timing and temperature.

I come here often and you can count on 2 things. Slow device and mediocre food. If it weren't for the view I a wouldn't come here. The setting is nice. Just don't expect decent service. If you ask for a condiment after your food arrives expect it long after your food is ice cold. Bring a bottle of water, you may dehydrate waiting for your drink and forget about ordering a second drink. It will come about 15 minutes after you want to leave.

PET FRIENDLY I've read mixed reviews, so initially I was going to go to rusty bellies, BUT... Rusty bellies are NOT pet friendly. Hubby and I bring our four legged kids most places. So I called here and they welcome pets so we gave it a shot. Glad we did! Now we not only have another waterfront pet friendly restaurant to go to, but a sports bar as well for our Packer games! Double bonus! Tony was our waiter and he could not have been nicer and more accommodating, but absolutely EVERYONE was super nice...maybe it was because we have the cutest Chihuahuas in the world*) but maybe they are just all really nice young folks! Refreshing! That all said, they had to deal with a tough crowd; I, being from Wisconsin where everybody smiles, says hi, chats with you, many of these patrons were cold as ice! Definitely NOT from Wisconsin, or Florida for that matter. I really felt sorry for the staff as well as the band. I would have liked to see a bit larger portions on some dishes like the fish and chips and the prices are a bit above average, like $10 smoked fish spread? I thought $8.00 was expensive for a scoop of fish and some crackers, (that's at another waterfront restaurant), but this is PRIME real estate after all and I'm sure all the lovely taxes are a B...H! Plus they have a dozen or more staff members on! We never waited for anything, the food came out quick and hot, hot, hot, and the seafood is fresh. We WILL be back! God bless!

My husband and I use to love going to captain jacks. We love the deck and the view. We really enjoyed the fact we could bring our dog as well.Unfortunately service is a joke! Everytime we go there it's an act of God to get a refill on your drink. Last time we went there we sat on the upper deck. There was a total of five tables including ours. Two waitresses and nobody sitting at the bar. Those two girls spent more time talking and joking around behind the bar then with their tables. I saw one table get up and leave due to the lack of attention they were getting. The food runner was carrying two trays of food and had trouble opening the sliding door. My husband got up to help open the door and close it, you think he could of said "thank you?" Not to mention they took off our favorite thing on the menu the captains rolls :( We will be taking a break from this restaurant due to the lack of friendly attentive waitstaff.

Nice outside place to have a drink and some appetizers service was good. Bloody Mary was tastey had the shrimp app and nachos rolling rock was cold. Thumbs up

My husband & I went here for the first time hoping for a good meal with a good view. We arrived and were finally greeted by our waitress after a lengthy wait. We asked if they had any drink specials. She immediately reeled off beer choices/options to my husband. He ordered something and when I asked what non beer specials they had she told me all they had was just the regular soda offerings clearly confused by my question. I asked if they had a drink menu and she said no. How disappointing! I was hoping for a fun signature drink to enjoy. We ordered conch fritters as an appetizer. They were so overcooked and terrible. We both ordered the grouper sandwich for our entree. I hate to complain about getting a huge portion but in this case i have to because the bland tasting piece of fish that was on our sandwiches was so big it was hard to eat. It kept falling off. The bun was soaked and hard to manage without falling apart. The waitress never gave us silverware and didnt come back after delivering our food to see if we needed anything. I had to somehow eat my meal with my fingers. Not fun. I will not be returning if I can help it! I wish I could give zero stars.

New to the area, boating around and lookin for lunch friends brought us here to mingle and munch The vibe is definitely flip flops and low key right on the water, it's the place to be relaxing with a big bucket of ice cold beers and as one goes down, a new one magically appears The food was pretty good which was an extra perk but the ambience and view are what make it work So, the next time that I'm on a boat Captain Jacks will definitely get my vote!

I had a couple of sunny afternoon hours to waste in Tarpon Springs this past week and was hoping to find some cold brew to cool off. Yelp to the rescue, especially when I found out Captain Jack's was on the water. Captain Jack's is a classic FL beach shack, with the obligatory thatch roof and decor. It's a big bar/restaurant, nearly 100 seats downstairs I'd guess, and I counted 30 seats around the huge rectangular bar, every one of which has good views of the water. It wasn't busy, so it was an especially nice place to catch up on some reading in the shade and breeze while enjoying some Shock Top Belgian White, looking over the boats dockside & going up and down the river. Got to give a thumbs up to Abby who was manning the bar. Hard to imagine anyone doing a better job by making sure she knew and remembered every single person's name, what they were drinking, and checking in on us regularly to make sure we were all happy. I hope to get back soon over the next few weeks to check out the food. Atmosphere: 4 Service: 5 Food: N/A Value: 4

We love Captain Jacks. The atmosphere is great right on the water and always live music. Food is delicious and service with a smile. The renovation to the upstairs area is awesome too.

My family went there for lunch. We experienced good food, good service and a great atmosphere. We went early enough on a Sunday - we had the place to ourselves when they opened! It was a wonderful view on a beautiful day. Definitely recommend if you want a nice experience.

I honestly wish that I could leave zero stars for this place. Poor service and even poorer food. We came here by boat and thought that it would be a cool place to hangout, but we refused service because the girls were wearing skirts and bikini tops. They would not let us in until the girls put on shirts. I can't believe that a restaurant that bills itself as a waterfront bar and grill would prohibit girls in bikini tops. Besides that, the food took forever to get. One person in our group did not even get his meal that he ordered. In addition it took 20 minutes to get ketchup. I complained to a manager who did not seem to care. Word of warning: DO NOT GO HERE!!

I love stopping here when I am in Tarpon Springs. It is a great place to sit by the water, at the tiki bar, or even in the upstairs sports bar and have some drinks and appetizers. The meals themselves have been hit or miss but the apps always deliver. The service is very friendly and quick. Definitely worth the stop.

On the water, pet friendly. Good food, great service, nice view. Had the cuban, it was pretty good. Husband had the special - a chicken sandwich blackened. Both ok. Portion size good, tiki atmosphere.

Poor service. Poor drinks. This place is dying off quickly! Should be zero stars!

Eat elsewhere. The food here is a crime against humanity. They can't even make a decent quesadilla. Come here for a cold one and to chill on the waterfront. The 3 stars are strictly for the waterfront atmosphere. And that makes it totally worth your $10.

As a mix between sports bar and waterfront dining, Captain Jacks has a little bit for everyone. We've been there on weekends when it's part of a motorcycle poker run, and we've taken our kids. It gets packed, but never gets out of hand. Food: I LOVE their fish dip. It's my entree, not my appetizer. The clam chowder is also great. My husband is a fan of the sliders. You can get them as pulled pork, chicken or Burgers; he always chooses pulled pork. For a side, don't miss out on the sweet potato fries with apple butter for dipping. Drinks: one of the few places serving Corona Light...yay! Kids love sitting on the water, watching the boats come in. It gets a little breezy at times, but always nice.

We would give this place -1 star if we could. Slow service. Horrible food. I mean horrible. Very disappointed. Brought out of town guests and they were quite unhappy.

Bad bad bad! $15 grouper sandwich was inedible. DRY fish. Came with a green slice of tomato and a brown lettuce leaf. Called for manager. She brought more lettuce and tomatoes. Could not even bite through the tomatoes they were so hard. The waiter did remove it from the bill. If there is tequila in this margarita, I cannot detect it. Friend ordered blackened fish reuben sandwich--not blackened, and not reuben except it was on rye. No condiments in table, and none brought with food. Fish spread was served with a pile of tortilla chips and 4 crackers. I will not be back, and I am local. Do not waste your money. Lots of other places in Tarpon Springs with decent food.

Our entourage (of 12) arrived late on a Saturday night (11PM) for food after a boat party and we needed FOOD. The place was empty with the exception of a few people at the bar, which seemed odd for a Saturday, although it was cold for Florida. We were afraid that the kitchen would be closed, but they were ready to accommodate us, which is why I'm giving them 2 stars instead of one. I ordered boneless teriyaki wings and although it was a large portion, it was practically inedible. The chicken was overcooked and the sauce was so salty I tried to wipe it off with a napkin, but wasn't very successful. They also added in the tip, which is understandable, but it would have been nice if we had been informed. I would have remembered if they did as I was one of the few that weren't pretty tipsy. Given the choice, I'd go back, but not if I want to eat. Just to drink and enjoy the view.

Absolute crap! The staff walked past my wife, daughter and myself for 1/2 hour before we even had a waitress come ask us if we wanted anything to drink or give us a menu to look at. Had to go to the bar and get drinks for us while we waited. So I just spent more money. When she finally took our orders and waited another 35 minutes for the food to come, it was warm. The whole time I was eating not one waitress came to check on us to see if everything was ok or if we needed more drinks. So back to the bar I went for more drinks that.......yes I paid for again. You can keep your frozen foods and your wait staff with their texting. I will not return. When I asked to speak to a manager....none were available.. Yeah...ok. Heard it was bad but wanted to try it out. Never again.

Unfortunately I did not have a ok experience here. The bar tender didn't even know the name of blue carousel which is a main ingredient in one of their personal drinks. Not only did she call it "the blue stuff" and said " I don't know the name of that crap" in which I enlightened her, but then they didn't even have it behind the bar, so she mace it like it was our fault. " well now you have to wait until I can get it" to which we did exactly that for 15 minutes, and when we tried to order something else she responded " I have 15 other things on my head you have to wait" I. Which well we had to seeing as we were at a friends going away party couldn't really leave. We eventually got the drink called the blue lagoon which was basically soda, water, a tiny drop of rum, and a even tinier drop of blue carousel. 6 dollars for a cup of ice and side so sad I ordered that. Then we ordered the food finally when we got our drinks, and they claim to have the best wings well being that I eat wings on a daily please check all my other reviews they were not, dry.... Very very dry. Almost no sauce and unfortunately we needed to ask for more sauce which well as you could imagine we needed to wait again. So if the owners actually read these this all occurred 06/30:/14 between the hours of 6:30 and 7:30 tiki bar out side on the water. I encourage you to please respond seeing as we are frequent diners to places we like, and I honestly have t had such poor service.

After a fun-filled day out on Anclote Key, we arrived around 6pm on a Sunday with a hunger and a need to soak up the alcohol that we'd been ingesting since 9am. We promptly grabbed a couple tables on the patio overlooking the water and were brought waters immediately. Server was patient and helpful, but food took awhile to arrive. I ordered the Philly, which was a bit pricey for what you get. The sandwich was good, fresh veggies and nice and hot, but the meat was slightly overcooked and dry. Instead of chips, I upgraded to sweet potato fries for $2.99, which is a bit of an upcharge. I was shocked by the small amount of fries I actually got. I'd rather just order a basket for $5 and eat something else off the appetizer menu, honestly. Two others in my party ordered the quesadillas, and they weren't real impressed. We make better ones at home. We also ordered the nachos, which were a little over the top spicy, and covered in that fake nacho cheese goo rather than real cheese. I might have been drunk, which usually results in anything tasting good, but this place was just okay. More of a place to visit for the view than anything else. And maybe the drinks, but that was the last thing on my mind at the time!

Waterfront bar with great views of the sponge docks across on the S side of the river Sit downstairs if you enjoy watching folks mooching about on their boats by the dock on the N side of the river Great happy hour with an incredibly friendly (and hilariously witty) cast of usual suspects I was there on a Friday early evg when the girl who the local police officer was looking for was discovered asleep in the "shark"... You had to be there to experience what was a true situation comedy....wicked funny

For staters: Potato Teasers are very good. Main course: I had the Coconut Crusted Chicken & Mandarin Salad. I was very surprised by how well the coconut chicken and mandarin oranges complimented each other. They have the best drinking buckets around. Live music and outdoor seating right on the water in Tarpon Springs.

Went there 2 nights ago. Sat at the bar, never greeted. After a while I stayed out of curiosity to see if I would ever be waited on. I was finally asked if he could "do something for me". How polite...I asked for some wings and shrimp. Left there thoroughly disappointed in food quality, taste and presentation. Wait staff are HORRIBLE! Then I got woken up with a nice case of food poisoning...puked for the next 24 hours. Reporting them to the county and BBB. Disgusting excuse for a restaurant and on prime waterfront real estate...such a waste!

Wow has this place gone downhill. Slow service Bad food Cuban sandwich had a single piece of ham, no pork. Chips were undercooked. If I hadn't waited so long for the food to come out I would have sent it back. Would no longer recommend except to frenemies.

where to start? Just ate there the other night and first thing to come out were the hushpuppies that weren't done in the middle. They were pure mush. Second it took 40 minutes to get the appetizer. Third my wings came out and they weren't cooked all the way. Totally raw on the inside and to top it off when I sent them back all they did was put them back in the fryer so when they came back the sauce was burnt on them. The worst part is I ate 3 before noticing and I got really sick that night.

Headed into Tarpon proper for a nice afternoon lunch on their Tiki deck to enjoy the lovely weather. It was the first visit to this local icon and while I wasn't daunted by the lack of "proper" parking, I was by some of the menu prices. The food was good, the service a little slow, but over all, it was a nice experience. The scenery made up for it all. The warm breeze, the slowly rolling storm front that has yet to break.. The attire is flip flops and shorts, comfortable and causal, don't worry if you're wearing a bathing suit, you'll fit right in.

Tarpon Springs is such a beautiful place to be and the restaurant options are incredible! This particular trip my family and I opted to try some seafood. I don't get enough of it living in Saint Louis and so my dad knew exactly the place to go. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and since the weather was so gorgeous we opted to sit outside on the patio (right next to the bar). There were tv's all around us so that we could watch the playoffs while enjoying the view and our drinks. Once we were seated the server came over and offered us some cold beverages. She knew the way to my heart. Another thing missing in Saint Louis is Yuengling...why? I have no idea. But we don't have it and it's not fair. So you better believe I had a few to make up for it. We looked over the menu and we were ready to order. I chose a bowl of clam chowder for starters and then a grilled grouper sandwich. I was happy with my decision. Watching the game, enjoying a Yuengling, and spending time with my family was great! I enjoyed every moment of that day. By the time my food came I was starving and couldn't wait to dig in. The clam chowder was just as I had hoped it would be. So many clams and the flavors were intoxicating. I took a bite of the grouper and it was delicious. Flaky and cooked to perfection. I was happy with this decision. My family and I stayed for the remainder of the game to enjoy our drinks. When it was time to go we asked for our check which the server brought over quickly. She was fast and efficient and provided such good service. I think being outside in the Florida sun just makes people happier! Tarpon Springs is a must visit destination and Captain Jacks is definitely worth checking out.

Wow, really has gone down hill! My wife ordered a glass of wine and she received a half cup in plastic. I asked the waiter where is the rest of it and he said its a 5 oz pour. Not my idea of a happy hour for these prices. If your local, go grab something else and go to the beach if you want waterfront dining. Sorry captain, you need to go down with the ship!!!

We stopped here for dinner around 6pm on a Sunday after spending a day on the water. We were definitely in need of food and water! Our waitress obviously noticed and brought us waters right away. She was good at dealing with our group who had a little too much fun earlier in the day. The disappointment was the food. It took way too long to come out (overall we were at the restaurant almost 2 hours. The taste of the food was poor. The quesadilla was just chicken and cheese with no real flavor. Philly was a little over cooked and even the sweet potato fries were a disappointment. Pretty sure they came outta the freezer and were left in the cooker too long. Could be a nice atmosphere for after a day on the water, but not this day.
